Peter’s Re-Call
Dr. Chris Carrasco
After Peter’s biggest failure, he needed a second chance, actually 3 second chances. Jesus finds him where it all began, fishing on the Sea of Galilee. The parallels to Peter’s call story are palpable. Peter recalls the good ‘ole days when Jesus re-calls him into discipleship. After three opportunities to profess his love for Jesus, Peter receives his life’s purpose: to feed Jesus’ sheep and lambs. Peter proclaims for the next 35 years the Good News of the Gospel, starting with Pentecost. He becomes the leading disciple among the early church movement and causes some waves when he proclaims that Gentiles are welcome without following Jewish laws. Peter arguably becomes the most influential disciples of the original twelve, flaws and all.

Simon Peter: Flawed but Faithful Disciple -Summer Worship Series
He was not rich or educated, but was familiar with hard work. He was quick-tempered and impetuous, but possessed a passion that would change the world. He left everything to follow his teacher, yet struggled with doubt and fear. He was the first to profess Jesus as the Son of God, yet he later denied knowing him. Simon Peter is an ordinary fisherman who heard an extraordinary call. In this five week study based on Adam Hamilton’s book by the same name, we will study Peter’s life in-depth from his call as a fisherman through his death. Perhaps we will see ourselves in Simon Peter, the flawed but ultimately faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
