A Discipleship Journey with Matthew

Jan. 3 – The Pilgrimage of Discipleship
Dr. Chris Carrasco
Epiphany Sunday Matthew is the only author who describes the pilgrimage of the Magi. These Gentiles go to great lengths to offer their gifts to the newborn king, Jesus, even risking their lives. Nevertheless, they make the difficult journey to experience Jesus themselves and then offer their presents to him. What lengths will you go to to have an experience of Jesus? What gifts will you offer him?

A Discipleship Journey with Matthew
Discipleship is how we live out our calling to be followers of Jesus both individually and as a church. The Matthew 25 initiative of the PC(USA) is a call to actively engage the world as disciples of Jesus Christ through three foci: building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty. This winter we will journey through Matthew’s gospel as we explore these themes, bracketed by the two events that point to Jesus’ identity: baptism and transfiguration. Come join us as we are comforted and challenged by Jesus’ words. Join us as together we grow in our discipleship.
